Family members of students appearing for their class 10 board exams were caught on Thursday mounting over the school building wall to pass chits and assist their wards in the exam hall. Despite the invigilator in the exam room catching a student cheating; they were allowed to continue with the exam.

Young children were allowed to saunter into the exam hall where Bihar Board exams were taking place, with answers in bits of paper for the students.

Over 14.26 lakh students are appearing at the BSEB matriculation examination being held at a little over 1,200 centres in the state. About 1,000 examinees have been expelled from the examination in the first two days, board officials said. The examination will conclude on March 24.

Some observers also alleged that the police are accepting bribes from people wanting to get into the examination halls. Authorities claim they have debarred some 500 students, but bystanders can see that this has had no effect. Bihar has a law to deal with cheating, which includes provisions for lodging a First Information Report and even arresting offenders.
