Your Internet Is Under Threat! AIB Says Save the Internet and how serious net neutrality is

The guys at the comedy collective All India Bakchod have just come up with what could perhaps be a shot in the arm for the movement for Net Neutrality. After being bashed by moral police in our country for coming up with an offensive roast of Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, All India Bakchod aka AIB is back addressing a more serious issue this time around. The AIB team has made a video explaining and supporting net neutrality and what our telecom companies are upto to foil it.Many of you must have seen numerous articles, petitions and documents floating around social media for quite some time that mention the term ‘Net Neutrality‘, but perhaps ignored it thinking it doesn’t concern you.

Your Internet Is Under Threat! AIB says Save the Internet and how serious net neutrality is

In the nine minute long video, the AIB team comprising of Akshay, Rohan, Khamba and Tanmay have come up with a simple yet entertaining way to open the eyes of layman, who is completely unaware of net neutrality. The video explains the concept of net neutrality by giving funny examples, so that the message does reach each and every internet user. The video explains how the telecom companies want to carve the internet sector and charge separately for each and every services we use. Well, the news is, as these guys have very simply yet effectively explained in this video, that it would change the very nature of the internet! If you believe in the idea of a free and fair internet, and want to join the fight to save the internet, scroll down the video to see how you can take action.

It is heartening to see the movement gain momentum. Just a few days back, MP Tathagata Satpathy joined the fight and wrote a powerful letter to the TRAI Chairman. And now, this hugely popular comedy collective has contributed in its own way. Perhaps taking a cue from John Oliver’s video on the same issue, AIB has explained it in the Indian context.

Net Neutrality is crucial for free speech, equal opportunity and innovation, and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India wants to hear from you regarding the same. Services like Airtel Zero are sly ways in which telecom operators are violating Net Neutrality. Sign this petition asking TRAI to not allow differential pricing of services on the Internet & let the consumers choose how they want to use the Internet.

At last the video pleads the viewers to click to www.savetheinternet.com to send a mail to Telecom Regulation Authority of India to stop the telecom companies from changing the face of internet in India.

TRAI has released a document and is seeking your views through 20 questions. They are asking for your suggestions, here’s your chance to make yourself heard. You can submit your answers to the TRAI before 24th April, 2015 at [email protected].
