National Film Awardee Swetha Basu Prasad Offered New Role In Hansal Mehta’s Film
Indian Film Industries Bollywood filmmaker National Film Awardee Hansal Mehta had proclaimed that he would like to offer a role in his upcoming film via a social media. Hansal Mehta had tweeted with his twitter account tweeting as “I intend to offer Shweta Prasad a role in my next film. She was so good in Makdee.” Followed by another tweet stating “Stop posting pictures of Shweta. Put out the pictures of her wealthy clients and the pimp. Expose the scumbags not the soft target.”
On being contacted director Hansal Mehta, he confirmed his tweets proclaiming that “I’m serious about casting Shweta in my next film. Vishal Bhardwaj is an old friend. So I’d seen Makdee (Vishal’s directorial) in a rough-cut stage, and realised what an incredible actor Shweta is.” Talking about the prostitution scandal, Mehta said, “Why is everything just about Shweta, and not about the people who pay for prostitution? Why aren’t the pictures of the pimp and the other people involved in the racket being printed, and why is everyone just maligning the girl?”
Indian film industry critics welcome this move and stated that Indian film industry is so generous that it had given opportunities to the people like Sunny Leone and well talented actors and actress and had expressed their support to Swetha stating that they feel guilty that someone who is so talented as an actor had to resort to something like this. On the other side fans of the Swetha Basu Prasad, too feel felicitous and well-chosen move by the nimble-fingered and dexterous director of Indian Film maker who has directed many formidable and spectacular movies such as Jayate (1997), Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar!! (2000), Chhal (2002), Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai? (2002), Anjaan (2005), Dus Kahaniyaan (2007) which was a segment “High on the Highway”, Woodstock Villa (2008), Raakh (2010), Shahid (2013), City Lights (2014).
Hansal Mehta has been awarded as National Film Award for Best Direction in the year 2013 for the film Shahid (2013). Shahid is remarkably handled film that traces the true story of a slain human right activist and a lawyer Shahid Azmi n the backdrop of communal violence unleashed in Mumbai. The story of an impoverished Muslim struggling to come to terms with injustice, inequality and rise above his circumstances. It is an inspiring testament to the human spirit. While what makes Mehta’s post buzzing is that Shweta who won the National Award for her role in Makdee (2002) was arrested from a Hyderabad hotel for her alleged involvement in prostitution racket.
Swetha Basu Talks About Her $ex Scandal
Tollywood and Bollywood National-award winning actress Swetha Basu Prasad was caught on Sunday August 31 for being involved in a high profile prostitution racket broke out her silence and spoke about her sagging career, turn of events that ended her into vicious trade. The fading actress claimed that she’s bankrupt and that forced her to take up “flesh trade”.
The actress was caught red-handed, when the Hyderabad Police raided a famous hotel at Banjara Hills which was carried out with the support of a news channel. Shweta had said in an earlier statement that she was pushed to prostitution because of financial reasons.

Swetha in her statement said, “I have made wrong choices in my career, and I was out of money. I had to support my family and some other good causes. All the doors were closed, and some people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money. I was helpless, and with no option left to choose, I got involved in this act. I am not the only one who faced this problem, and there are several other heroines who have gone through this phase.”
Shweta shot to fame in 2002 when she won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for her role in the film ‘Makdee’. After which she featured in several TV serials and also worked in a few Bollywood films. Later she took forward her acting career to Telugu films. The police also arrested several well-known businessmen from metro cities along with the actress, who later released a statement admitting that she was out of money, and had no other way to support her family. This isn’t the first time the actress was caught in a sticky situation. Previous reports stated that Shweta was caught in a compromising position during a sting operation.
She has worked in Nagesh Kukunoor’s ‘Iqbal’, Mahesh Manjrekar’s ‘Vaah!Life Ho To Aisi’ and Ram Goapl Varma’s ‘Darna Zaroori Hai’. She also appeared in popular TV soaps, ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki’ and ‘Karishma Ka Karishma’
Several actors like Aditi Rao Hydari and Upen Patel have come forward to speak up for Shweta. “A girl is in the news and in prison for prostitution, why not her high profile clients? We are so damn sexist… #Pathetic,” tweeted Aditi Rao Hydari. Upen Patel tweeted as: “Breaks my heart about Shweta Prasad. Remember meeting her when she was a little girl in Iqbal ..
