15-Year Old Boy Kidnapped For 10 Crore & Murdered; Body Found In Box
Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, the body of a 15-year old boy, Abhay Modani, who was allegedly kidnapped for ransom on Wednesday evening, was found stuffed in a carton with his hands tied with a rope, near Secunderabad railway station on Wednesday night at around 10.50 pm, according to the police.
The class 10 student, who was preparing for the final exams scheduled to commence on March 21, is one of the twin sons of Raj Kumar, who owns a plastic manufacturing company in Katedan. The family migrated from Rajasthan two decades ago and has been living at Sree Colony in Shahinayathgunj near Begum Bazar in the city.
“According to family members, Abhay went out on Wednesday afternoon, on a blue colour moped, to buy some idlis. His family members later received a phone call from the kidnapper, who demanded Rs. 10 crores as ransom from Abhay’s father Raj Kumar, who owns a scrap recycling company. The caller called again later to demand Rs. 5 crores,” police said.
After receiving the second ransom call, Abhay’s father lodged a complaint at Shahinayath Gunj police station. The CCTV cameras in the area have revealed that Abhay riding pillion on a two-wheeler with a youngster, who appeared to be familiar to him. Following a complaint by the boy’s family, police traced the call to Secunderabad and launched a hunt for the suspects.
The body of Abhay was found in a TV package box near Alpha Hotel in Secunderabad on Wednesday night. Police suspected 3 people to be involved in the kidnap and murder. They then formed 10 special teams to search and arrest the suspects. The three were arrested on a train while trying to escape to Vijayawada.
According to the police, the three kidnappers are suspected to be former employees of the boy’s father. The police teams rushed to the area immediately but within 20 minutes of the second call the boy’s body was found. They allegedly murdered the boy soon after kidnapping him and subsequently demanded a ransom of Rs. 10 crores.
