On Wednesday, the Bhopal police arrested an 18-year-old boy for raping and killing a 12-year-old girl with stones.

18-year-old Avinash Sahu was arrested for raping and murdering the minor under the Indian Penal Code and the provisions of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) act.

The 12-year-old girl went to a Jain Temple with her aunt on Tuesday evening,  when the 16-year-old aunt went away, Avinash took the minor away and raped her before crushing her head with stones.

The police arrested Avinash Sahu after the family of the minor lodged a complaint at the Bhopal Police Station.

Pragya Singh Thakur, a candidate of the BJP from the Bhopal Lok Sabha Constituency blamed the Congress government for the gruesome crime.

Pragya also took the mother of the minor to a hospital as she needed medical attention, she said: “We will take revenge.”

Pragya Thakur tweeted, “Law and order situation in the state is in disarray…Kamal Nath has become the chief minister of (only) Chhindwara.”
