4,600 Children in Bengaluru Dress up as Mahatma Gandhi Entered Guinness Book of World Records

Venkat International Public School in Bengaluru created a new Guinness World Record on 146th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Over 4,600 students dressed as the Father of the Nation and gathered at the single venue and break the record of 2,900 which was created by the students of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu in 2013. Director Shekhar Balakrishna, School executive said that “We are happy to have created a world record on assembling around 4,600 students, all dressed as Mahatma Gandhi at a single venue at Shri Kanteerava Stadium on the occasion of his 146th birth anniversary”.

The school management spent about 30 lakh rupees for the dresses, garments, skullcaps and spectacles. Also, it took one and half hour to gather all the students at the venue. Sumitra Gandhi, octogenarian granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi witnessed this event in Bengaluru.

School executive also said that “Apart from achieving the new world record, what moved us was to instill the invaluable doctrines and principles by which Mahatma Gandhi stood all his life and gave freedom to Indian Independence with a unique weapon of non-violent Satyagraha”. Another attraction for this event was the 95-year-old Gandhian from Tamil Nadu. Although, it is the difficult task to the management, but the management followed the rules and guidelines set by the Guinness World Record authorities and came out victorious by achieving the milestone.
