A national level athlete from Kerala committed suicide on Tuesday. Resnamol K S, a rising athlete from the state of Kerala has hanged herself in her room which was shocking news for her family members. According to the reports, the reason for committing suicide is that ‘she was addressed by her parents and the Coach not to use mobile phone.’ The reason may be quite silly, but the reports are proving that she did this after being reprimanded for using the phone.

On Tuesday, Resnamol was found hanging in her Sports Authority of India hostel room. Resnamol has sold her earrings in order to buy a cell phone, but she was not allowed by the Coach to use the phone in the hostel and didn’t permit her to use it. Thus, she was not aware of what she was doing and her innocent mind got saddened which resulted in committing suicide. She was found hanging at around 11 AM on Tuesday.

Resnamol is from Cherupuzha in Kannur District and joined the sports hostel last year. She was undergoing training under the District sports council. Sub Inspector Raman Unni said, “Resnamol’s Coach Talib came to take down the attendance of all the students at around 11 am. He attempted to open the lock but failed to do so. He informed the warden, once the door was opened, she was found hanging there.”

Her body has been sent to the Kozhikode Medical Hospital. Resnamol was one of the rising athletes as a triple jumper and she recently won a bronze medal at the National Inter-Club Championship. According to Resnamol’s friends, her mother addressed her about the mobile phone on Monday, which she was very upset about. She had stayed back in her room as she didn’t have any classes on the day.

She was confronted by her Coach when he was known about her cell phone and received contradictory replies. SI informed that “her mother had called Resnamol, after the Coach informed her about it. She was found dead immediately after that.” This was not the only story in the Sports center; there are many issues in the past which took place in this hostel. Thus, state government should take an immediate action and inspect the sports schools.
