A Selfie Video: ‘Humiliated’ over Fees, Class X Student Commit Suicide, Leaves behind Video Message

Satish, a 15-year-old student from Karimnagar district, Telangana shot a selfie video giving out his reasons before committing suicide. The X class student who faced ‘humiliation’ after being punished in school for not paying his school fees eventually did commit suicide on a railway track.

On Wednesday, Satish, a student of Class X at a private school in Peddapalli area in Telangana’s Karimnagar district, was allegedly slapped by the principal and was later made to stand outside the classroom along with six other boys after he failed to pay his fees. The teen reportedly came home during lunch break and then shot a video on a cell phone that he had borrowed from his cousin while on his way back.

In the video, Satish was seen wearing his uniform and starts by saying, “I am going to die; the teacher left me outside with others for not paying the school fees. I don’t feel like going to school after this. I am going to die. Everybody faces the same situation, we paid Rs 5,000 recently, there’s no money in the house.”

He also left a note near a TV in the room, asking his family (who were not present at the time) to see the video before leaving home. The teen asked his parents not to look for him and bid a goodbye to his friends.

In the evening, his body was found on a railway track, near Peddapalli area in the district, about 20 kilometers away from his home. The police have registered a case under section 306 – abetment of suicide against the private school.
