Adnan Sami After Receiving Indian Citizenship Says “There Is No Intolerance And I Never Found It In India”

Adnan Sami is one of the great singers in India. He is not only a singer, he also composes music, he is a pianist and an actor. Adnan Sami has been in India since 16 years. He decided to renounce his Pakistani citizenship after Islamabad refused to renew his passport in May last year and has applied for Indian citizenship. On the eve of New Year, the Indian Government has agreed his request and has given the “Certificate of Indian Citizenship.”

Adnan Sami’s “Certificate of Naturalization” was personally handed over to him by Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the certificate was granted under Section 6 of the Citizenship Act, 1955 after Sami satisfied the government that the conditions for grant of naturalization were fulfilled in his case. After receiving the certificate, Adnan Sami sang his hit song “Teri oonchi Shaan hai maula… Mujhko Bhi to lift kara de.”

He took Twitter to express his feelings becoming an Indian Citizen and he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh for approving him Indian Citizenship.

Later on, the next day when he attended a program, he was asked about concerns raised by actors Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan of growing intolerance in India, he replied saying that “If there is intolerance in India, do I take Indian Citizenship. Everyone was entitled to their opinion based on personal experience. Had there been intolerance, I would not have taken Indian citizenship. I have never experienced intolerance. There is no intolerance in India.
