India’s gracious counterpart Afghanistan has bestowed its neighboring nation with a memorable gift with its humble gesture before Independence Day celebrations. India which is assisting the Afghanistan in the  goodwill reconstruction project of the multipurpose Salma Dam which is about to be completed is conceived to be one of the main reasons behind this friendly gesture of Afghan.

India’s Independence Day Celebrations Start Two Days Earlier

India took up the task of constructing war-torn Salma Dam for Afghanistan in the western Herat Province in the year 1996. Nationals and citizens of Afghan have been claiming their happiness over the construction of the Salma dam whose construction is about to end very soon and as the water is gushing into the reservoirs.

Official sources claim that most of the locals and citizens of Afghan are vesting the Indian consulate to convey and express their gratitude towards the affable nation which has been coordinating with their nation in their in development.

Indian officials who had been working at the Indian consulate in Afghanistan reported their kudos’s after receiving the best wishes from the locals for keeping up their commitment in building Salma dam. Afghan residents of the western Herat Province walked onto the streets with a 100-metre-long tricolor flag expressing their appreciation and gratitude to India which turned out to be one the best present India has ever witnessed and received from its counterparts.

Salma dam has been one of the prestigious project of India and it is the  second largest overseas hydropower project built at a cost of Rs 1,400 Crore. Salma Dam hydroelectric station is anticipated to generate a 42 MW of electricity simultaneously it would be flourishing farmlands in over 80,000 hectares in agriculture and irrigation practices.

Afghanistan government and the Indian officials who had been engaged in the construction of Salma dam have recounted that it would be completed by the middle of the next year. Afghanistan, which has been facing the problem of electricity generation in the country to a large extent would be able to meet the huge power requirements with the completion of this much-awaited construction of Salma dam.
