Faisal says Ban vegetables on Bakr-Eid

Faisal has posted an online petition asking the government “to ban vegetables on the occasion of Muslim festival Bakr-Eid on September 25th, 2015.” As Faisal was frustrated of the word ban, he had protested in this way. Faisal further said that the reasons for his demand are ‘Plants have feelings as well’ and a number of pesticides in vegetables these days is harmful to us.

“With the meat ban being enforced on us due to various religious reasons, I think it is only right for us minorities to have a say,” posted in the petition. Faisal had also posted on Twitter that the petition is a ‘political mischief’ and is managing to get loads of supporters. Faisal suggested an alternative to banning vegetables: “everyone in the country, irrespective of religious beliefs partakes in the consumption of mutton (biryani) on that day.”

“You can come over to my house. I don’t mind sharing.” The ban of vegetables also gives the hardworking Indian farmers a day of much deserves a rest. So far, more than 200 people have signed the petition. Faisal, who is also a filmmaker has previously made a short film called India’s Mother – A Mockumentary, a parody on the beef ban in India.

The reinstatement of the age-old meat ban during the Jain festival of Paryushan this year in Mumbai has soon followed by Bengaluru, where the sale of meat was prohibited on Ganesha Chaturthi.
