Andhra MP Fails To Board Flight On Time, Slaps Air India Officer

Tirupathi: In yet another case of VVIP misbehaviour, an AP MP, who is believed to be YSR Congress Leader, allegedly slapped an Air India station manager in public at Tirupati airport for refusing to allow him to board a flight to Delhi. The incident took place on Thursday, November 26.

Going into details, the so-called MP who was accompanied by some of his relatives reached Tirupati airport on Thursday just before 25 minutes before the flight departure time with some of his relatives to board AI 541 flight leaving for New Delhi via Hyderabad. The MP asked the Station Manager to allow him and his relatives to board the flight. Since the boarding counters for domestic flights close at least 45 minutes before departure time, the Station Manager expressing his inability to do so and denied accommodation. The VVIP flew into a rage and slapped him.

Ashwani Lohani, Chairman of Air India, has specifically directed that no flight should be delayed for any non-technical reason like accommodating VVIPs, according to TOI.

Though other airline officials asked the victim to file complaint against the MP, he refused to do so. There were reports of MP subsequently pacified the employee and the latter did not file a complaint.
