As heavy rains lashing three districts of Andhra Pradesh – Chittoor, Nellore and Kadapa  for the past few days, four children were killed in an incident as a wall collapsed  due to rains last night in Rothu Kunta village, in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh.

The dead children were identified as Shivakumar (12), Vasu (10), Ganesh (8) and Ganesh (6) were killed in Rothu Kunta village when they were playing in an abandoned house and one of its walls collapsed.

The mishap has taken the death toll of rain-related incidents to eight, according to the police.

Officials said 14,000 people have been shifted to relief camps in Nellore and Chittoor districts.

Flash floods claimed that the lives of 80 cattle and damaged 80 houses. As after heavy rains lashed in Andhra Pradesh, for second day all educational institutions in Chittoor district were remained closed.

Railways have been cancelled several trains between Nellore, Tirupati and Chennai as tracks were submerged at a few places.

As more rains over the next two days, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to be on alert and take all measures to prevent loss of lives.
