AUSTRALIA WINS THE WORLD CUP, BEATING NEW ZEALAND BY SEVEN WICKETS: ICC Cricket World Cup is the flagship event of the international cricket calendar and takes place every four years. So far ten ICC Cricket World Cups has been held in which five different teams have won the tournament. The 2015 edition will be the 11th of the tournament and will be jointly hosted by New Zealand and Australia. Australia, one of the most successful World Cup team having won the tournament four times, and were runner up another three times. Australia and New Zealand faced at the Melbourne Cricket Ground today for the final of the World Cup and Australia overwhelmed New Zealand to win the World Cup for a fifth time at an ecstatic Melbourne Cricket Ground. Michael Clarke guided his side to a comprehensive seven-wicket win against New Zealand in front of an Australian record crowd. Michael Clarke has ended his one-day international career in fairytale fashion, top-scoring with 74 in an seven-wicket thrashing of trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand to claim Australia’s fifth World Cup title at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Electing to bat first, New Zealand were dismissed for 183 in 45 overs against Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup finals at MCG on Sunday.
