Trina Hibberd, a resident of Mission Beach in Queensland, Australia, woke up early Monday morning to find a 5m-long python weighing 40kg in her bedroom. It was reported that the snake was living in her roof for a long time (10 years) and it tried to upgrade to the master bedroom. The python named Monty stretched from her lounge room to her bedroom.

Monty managed to turn on a light and knock over a lamp before snake-catcher Dave Goodwin arrived. Trina Hibberd’s friend Julie Birrell had been staying over at her place in North Queensland, was rudely awakened by the sound of the reptile knocking over a lamp

“It’s frigging huge! Have it locked in the bedroom waiting for help… my life is never boring,” Trina Hibberd wrote in a post on Facebook. She also posted a picture and a video of the snake slithering in her house.

Mr. Goodwin induced the snake to wrap around his forearm before capturing it inside a plastic home-brewing jug. “We locked ourselves in the bedroom and grabbed him around the neck. He coiled around my arm but we managed to put him in a container,” said Mr. Goodwin. He said that it was the second biggest snake he had ever seen.

This is not the first time the python has visited the woman. Hibberd wrote, “the inFirst photo I have of him was in 2012 but I’m pretty sure he’s been the roof for a lot longer. He used to slither down into the pool area for a feed & a drink then slither back up just before sunrise unless he had a tummy full of food & got stuck.

The snake is apparently not a stranger to the household though. “I am pretty happy that it has gone,” said Hibberd.
