BJP image currently ‘negative, no-one will find it a realiable partner: Pawan Kalyan
VIJAYAWADA/NEW DELHI: The Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan has ruled out any possibility to go with BJP as an alliance partner. Expressing his outrage over TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and his son over their recent comments, he accused both of them for trying to ‘indulge in widespread corruption’.
“Currently, the image of the BJP in the state is completely negative. Nobody in his right frame of mind will partner with the BJP at this time,” Mr Kalyan told in an exclusive news interview.
Prior to this in a separate statement, the actor-turned politician openly alleged both Mr. Naidu as well as his son Lokesh for indulging in immoral acts like ‘corruption’ and ‘misusing the power’. All of them him said without any proof.
And along with his allegations, he further said that the TDP is working to succeed in making a secret deal with the BJP for a special financial package in return of leaving the issue of special category status for AP State.
The TDP Party outrightly denied all of his allegations and countered with the claim that he was acting under directions issued by some bigwigs (BJP).
Mr Kalyan’s allegations are viewed as one of the many reasons that resulted in the TDP’s split with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The TDP was already being targeted by regional parties like YSR Congress and others for not securing SCS category status for the state. If AP was to get the tag of SCS, the centre would have obliged to grant greater central funds, which was already promised by the Centre.
Mr Kalyan who had supported the BJP-TDP alliance in 2014 said he did not contest the elections then as votes “would have been split”.
“I could have contested 60-70 assembly and 10-12 parliament seats in 2014. I supported the TDP and BJP without expecting anything in return but they did not meet people’s expectations,” Mr Kalyan told in an interview.
In reponse to his criticism, the CM of AP, tried to put a full stop by reasoning in assembly by saying “Arun Jaitley said sentiment cannot increase quantum of funds. What a reckless statement. Telangana was carved for sentiment. Sentiment is very powerful. Even now you are doing injustice,”. He targeted the union finance minister who had last week completely ruled out a special category status but promised to honour the financial commitments made to Andhra Pradesh.
The TDP separated its way from NDA and issued a notice for no-confidence motion against the Central Government, and said that it would do a Tripura in Andhra Pradesh in coming next year.
“We believe the TDP is finding the going tough in Andhra Pradesh, they are seeing a defeat for themselves in 2019 and they want to use this as an alibi to really retrieve lost political ground,” said BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao.
