Blood Supply Cut off Due to Skinny Jeans Lead to Woman’s Collapse
Today in Melbourne, a woman suddenly collapsed and was crawling on floor after the blood supply to her calf muscles was cut off due to the skinny jeans she was wearing. This left everyone in shock and the necessity for the entire world and majorly the health experts to react against such jeans and stop wearing it.
“When she arrived, she had massive, really severe, swelling of both calves to the extent we were unable to take her jeans off without cutting them,” according to Thomas Kimber, a consultant neurologist and co-author of the Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry journal article.
“She couldn’t move her ankles or toes properly and had lost feeling in her lower legs and feet,” he said.
The prolonged compression due to the tight skinny jeans has resulted in blood cut off which lead to the damage in the muscle and also the nerve fiber which made the legs swell to enormous size.
The woman spent hours working around and moving around while helping a relative move house.
“As she was walking, she was having trouble lifting her feet and it got so bad she eventually fell and was unable to get up again,” Kimber said.
“It is well recognized that squatting for long periods of time, regardless of what you are wearing, can occasionally cause compression of the perineal nerve which is at the knee,” he said.
“She has fully recovered after being put on an intravenous drip and discharged after four days when she could walk unaided, Kimber said.
The case is reported in the Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery and Psychiatry.
