Canada Will Pay For Shipping Out The Trash They Illegally Sent To The Philippines 6 Years Ago

Canada is set to pay for shipping out the trash that they illegally sent to the Philippines 6 years ago, the country sent the trash by declaring them as “recyclable scrap plastics”.

Salvador Panelo, the Presidential Spokesperson said, “On the issue of garbage from Canada, the DFA and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources noted that the Canadian government is committed to shouldering all the expenses to ship out all the 69 waste containers.”

The matter was discussed during a Cabinet Meeting that was held in Malacañang Palace on Monday Night.

In 2013 and 2014, the Bureau of Customs received a number of containers that had tons of garbage that came from Canada and was declared as “recyclable scrap plastics”.

On April 22, The President of the Philippines said that he would declare war against Canada if they will not take back its garbage.

Salvador Panelo added, “The President is firm that we are not garbage collectors, thus he ordered that the Philippines will no longer accept any waste from any country.”

The Foreign Affairs Secretary of the Philippines, Teodoro Locsin Jr. said that the garbage is set to be sent out back to Canada by 15th May.
