Incidents of violence over suspected slaughter of cow, is not new in India. In September last year, a Muslim man was lynched to death, because of a rumour that he had consumed beef. Now, here’s a video, which shows a bunch of members of a cow vigilante group stripping and thrashing four men. The incident took place in Somnath in Gujarat on Monday, July 11.

The men were suspected to be smuggling cow leather by the vigilante group, when they caught them, stopped, stripped, tied them up together, and beat them up with sticks. Many bystanders who just watched the men being beaten up, without raising a voice, or helping them.

After the video of the attack was widely shared, the police have launched a search for the five accused. Three of the attackers have been arrested after footage of the incident went viral online.
