Cyclone Fani: 250-Foot Construction Crane Falls Over Residential Houses In Odisha

Cyclone Fani is one of the most strongest cyclones the country has ever seen in years, the category 4 cyclone has brought in extensive damage to the states that are located on the eastern coast of India, and recently, a video has surfed the internet which showed a 250-foot construction crane falling over residential houses in Odisha.

On Friday afternoon, a crane that was installed at an under-construction building crashed and fell over houses. Officials said that the winds yesterday were over 200 kilometers per hour.

So far, 3 people have passed away due to Cyclone Fani. The category 4 cyclone is considered as the strongest cyclone to hit the country in twenty years. Cyclone Fani is currently slowing down and is heading to West Bengal.

The government of Odisha evacuated more than 1.1 million people from the state and moved them to camps that are located on higher grounds, officials said that they have also evacuated nearly 600 pregnant women.

The government of Andhra Pradesh also evacuated more than 20,000 people, they moved them to 126 evacuation amps in Srikakulam after the cyclone brought in strong winds and heavy rains.

Nearly 147 trains have been stopped since the category 4 cyclone hit the state. But, 3 trains were in service from Puri to Howrah and Shalimar in West Bengal yesterday, this was done by the government to facilitate the evacuation process of tourists that were stranded due to the cyclone.
