Delhi Government to Offer Jobs to 35 Acid Attack Survivors
Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal has ascended with a great boon for the acid attack survivors by being on their side. Government of Delhi would be employing the acid attack survivors supporting them morally and economically in their lives with a suitable government jobs. Delhi Govt. briefed that a committee will be formed to look into the issues of acid attack survivors and would employing the eligible candidates and survivors in various departments Delhi government.
Acid Victims of Delhi to Get Govt. Jobs in Various Departments of Administration
Arvind Kejriwal, Chief of Aam Aadmi Party, Chief Minister of Delhi passed an order to this effect on Saturday. Sources claim that Arvind Kejriwal came up with this proposal after a representative acid attacks victim met him at his camp office in Delhi. Official records of Delhi government disclose that there are about 35 acid attack survivors in the city.
Arvind Kejriwal ordered service department to look for vacancies to be filled by these survivors on contract or permanent basis. Swati Maliwal, advisor to the Delhi Chief Minister said “Depending on their qualifications, work experience and ability, jobs will be given to them. Some of them are visually impaired while others have mobility problems. Depending on their convenience, we will hire them.”
Ms. Shaheen, a survivor, said when they met Mr. Kejriwal he promised that something would be done. “For people like us, employment is a huge problem. People do charity, but nobody wants to employ us. For our survival and to bear the cost of treatment, we need regular income. We are very happy with the AAP government’s decision. Despite the Supreme Court order, hospitals don’t admit us easily. There have been instances where patients were given bills amounting to Rs.20 lakh for surgeries done in private hospitals. Now, the survivors are hopeful that along with jobs, even their other requests would be looked into and “life will be slightly better”.
Working with an NGO, Ms. Shaheen will get a job along with three other members from her organisation. Apart from employment, these survivors had asked for easy treatment in hospitals, expediting cases pending in fast-track courts and proper implementation of the acid sale ban. The current step by the Aam Aadmi Party Chief and Chief Minister of Delhi is appreciable which would assure the acid attack victims and survivors with a give new life and empowerment. Most of the acid attack victims are devoted to their homes away from public life due to the ill social stigma after acid attack for such victims becoming self independent and working in government service will make them to live with more confidence.
