The person who is responsible for the safety of women turns into a nightmare for the women.According to the reports, Delhi Police’s assistant sub-inspector has been arrested and sent to 14-days judicial custody on Saturday for raping a 23-year-old woman in Delhi. Jayveer Singh (50), the accused ASI was posted at Punjabi Bagh police station in West Delhi.

ASI Javeer Singh who was posted at Punjabi Bagh police station in West Delhi, went to his friend’s place on Thursday night and allegedly raped his maid. The accused policeman reportedly raped the woman at gunpoint on and was also allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

 According to the victim, the police officer raped her at gunpoint on Thursday and was heavily drunk. Jayveer, who has been accused of raping the woman used to call the victim his daughter, and thus, the girl said that she could not believe his actions and lost her senses at the time the incident took place. This incident has been captured in CCTV cameras and the Delhi police are now trying to verify the authenticity of the CCTV footage. The medical reports of victim confirm rape.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said that proper action will be taken in the case.The woman approached the police on Friday following which she was sent for medical examination which confirmed rape, a police official said. An FIR has been registered against the accused at Rani Bagh police station. The cop was arrested and produced before the court on Friday which remanded him to 14-days judicial custody.

Reacting on the incident, AAP leader Ashish Khetan said that it is concerning that nobody feels secure in the national capital. Other political leaders and social activists too condemned the act saying that it is troubling that protectors have turned into violators now.Activist Jagmati Sangwan on Saturday demanded strict action against the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) who allegedly raped a woman at gunpoint.

“This is a very shameful incident and definitely comes under the aggravated form of crime. Not only the ASI responsible should be punished, but his officer-in-charge, he should also be taken to the task. If the police of our capital behaves like this and sexually assaults women then what about the nation. We demand strict action against both of these,” she told ANI.
