Derailment of Toy Train in Shimla-Kalka Route Kills 2 Foreigners

Tragically at least two foreign nationals were reported to  have been killed due to the derailment of  two bogies of a chartered toy train on Shimla-Kalka route near Parwanu in Himachal Pradesh. Local sources are reporting that this incident took place on Saturday which has killed two killed foreigners and over ten other passengers are said to be injured.

Toy Train Mishap Kills 2 Foreigners Injuring 10 Indian Passengers

The chartered train derailment mishap took place on Saturday when the train was en route to Shimla merely after a few minutes of its departure from Kalka which had resulted out tragic death of two UK nationals and nine other fellow passengers. Rescue operations were reported to have been progressive while local authorities have claimed that both the deceased were females passengers Loraine Tonner and Joan Nicholas, aged about sixty years.

Inputs were added by the Northern Railway authorities who claimed that the chartered which has a total of four bogies derailed near Taksal which is located at a distance of 2 km’s from departed station Kalka with three bogies. Chartered train derailment mishap took place around 12.55 PM when the driver was pulling off a curve.

Railway and Traffic Inspector general of police said, “The chartered train beside others also had a group of 37 UK nationals on board.Two UK nationals died on the spot.The condition of one out of a total nine injured is serious.The injured include three Indians and six foreigners.They have been shifted to a private hospital in Chandigarh” after being asked about the accident which has caused the death of 2 foreign nationals.kalka-shimla-train-mishap-2_091215063525

Rescue operations were on full swing and concerned authorities of Railway, local administration and police personnel’s fled to the spot although officials are looking out for the possible factors and causes of the accident. A probe has been ordered to probe the reasons behind the  accident. Sources recalled another accident which happened on August 18 Koti railway station on the same route to Shimla rail car, however, there was no life loss as it was on the trial run.
