Double For Chennai (Both Under-19 and Under-14), Under-17 Title For Ernakulam

46th KVS National Inter-School Girls’ Badminton Championship has ended on Wednesday at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium. Chennai won the under-19 and under-14 titles while the host Ernakulam walked away with the under-17 honours.

Chennai bt Hyderabad 2-0 (S. Bala bt G. Poojitha 15-6, 15-8; Nikitha & Bala bt Poojitha & S. Swathi 15-5, 15-6).

Under-17:

Ernakulam bt Dehradun 2-0 (Varsha Venkitesh bt Vigya Koushal 15-8, 15-5; Varsha & Smrithi Anil bt Ragasree Garg & Divyanshi Sharma 15-13, 15-11).

Under-19:

Chennai bt Ernakulam 2-1 (Divina lost to Suhana Sajid 4-15, 1-15; B. Madhumitha & Niteesha Rajesh bt Suhana Sajid & U.K. Bhavya 15-8, 13-15, 15-13; Madhumitha bt Maria Karen 15-0, 15-7).

Quarter-Finalists:

The quarter-finalists were spotted in both under-14 and under-19 sections in the basketball event held at Thiruvananthapuram.

Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Ernakulam, Jammu & Kashmir, and Lucknow qualified for the quarterfinals in the under-19 category while Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Ernakulam, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Mumbai moved into the quarterfinals in the under-14 category.

By conducting Games/Sports at KVS Regional & National level gives an opportunity to select the teams for SGFI Meet, organized by the School Games Federation of India wherein the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has been accorded the status of a State for participation in SGFI meets.
