Earthquake Tremors Of 4.8 Magnitude Hit Uttarakhand, Aftershocks Expected

Today, an earthquake hit Uttarakhand. Mild tremors were felt in one of the northern Indian state Uttarakhand. The earthquake has occurred with a magnitude of 4.8 measured on the Richter scale struck the place called Pithoragarh. The tremors were reported in the area of Pithoragarh at around 2:57 P.M. According to the reports, the epicenter of the earthquake was in Kumaon.

U S Geological Survey is expecting aftershocks post the earthquake. This was not the first time earthquake attacking in North India. There had been many reports saying that earthquakes are very often attacking North India this year. Although secondary shocks are less violent, there are high chances of the strong quakes than can damage weak structures.

The aftershocks can occur even days or months after the first quake. They have also asked people driving in the area to anticipate traffic light outages. Thus, the government of Uttarakhand has sent the rescue team to the spot to help the people who are affected by the earthquake.
