Since October, the Instant articles has been available to iPhone users and now it’s time for Android users as well. Those publishers who joined Facebook can host their content on the social network directly. It means the stories or the content is loaded within the Facebook app. This means that you can load stories much more quickly, without having to leave the Facebook app at all. It is better than before, accessing the news.

We at Facebook are really excited to be rolling out Instant Articles in India on Monday. We are working with a publisher ecosystem that is varied and we are excited to see how this product will resonate with Facebook users and publishers in India,” Andy Mitchell, Facebook’s director, news and global media partnerships.

It allows readers to quickly get the content they wish and allows publishers to display media-rich content easily. Thus, Facebook achieves faster loading by the pre-loading article as you scroll News Feed. Because the article has already been loaded in the background, pictures pop up instantly when you tap the link, and embedded videos start playing the moment you scroll down to them.

On the other hand, it also helps Facebook to become a gatekeeper to the Internet, and there have been many who have raised doubts about the openness and fairness of a model like Facebook’s Instant Articles. International partners of Facebook regarding Instant Articles are the New York Times, National Geographic, BuzzFeed, Bild, Huffington Post, BBC News, NBC, National Geographic, The Atlantic, The Guardian, Vox Media, and several more.

Facebook will monitor how different types of contents are being consumed and open the platform to other publishers in 2016. Bringing Instant Articles to India now that the service is on Android and iPhones makes a lot of sense, and the fact that the company has already signed up Indian publishers highlights how it has been getting more involved with India.
