A group of eight people hunted a rabbit eight months ago in Pushpagiri forest of Kodagu district. They are now facing the consequences of the issue. Thanks to the selfie which was posted by one of them. This post caught attention of the wild life officials from Bengaluru and they filed a suo motu case against the eight people.

According to the police officials, four persons from Bengaluru and as many from Somawarpet had a get-together in the taluk’s Kothnalli village in January this year. The get-together party was organised in Pushpagiri reserve forest for his friends by HM Naveen from Kothnalli village, who is a taxi operator in Bengaluru.

They used an air gun to shoot down a rabbit and prepared a dish with its meat.In a bravado act, Darshan Pandey one among the eight persons from Bengaluru took a selfie with the dead animal and uploaded it on Facebook. That post made them to be caught by the long arm of the law.

A criminal case was filed by the police against the eight persons and after that all the eight accused got obtained anticipatory bail in the high court. But they failed to file a statement to the police investigating officer about the incident, which was a key condition set by the court for their advance bail.

After their anticipatory bail lapsed on August 22, Somawarpet forest officials on Monday night raided Kothnalli village, arrested Chandrashekhar, Suresh and Rajshekhar, and seized two guns from them. They were released on bail later.
One accused on the run

According to the police sources, The fourth accused Guruprasad, fled the raiding cops’ team and suffered injuries on his leg. He was reportedly treated at a Sullia hospital and is on the run.

A police office stated that the four members Darshan Pandey , R Manjunath, Naveen and P Janardhan from Bengaluru are absconding.
