Former Tamil Nadu RS Member N Rajendran Found Dead In His Car, Police Suspect Suicide

DMK leader and former Rajya Sabha member N Rajendran was found dead with bullet injuries in his car in Tamil Nadu’s Tuticorin district on Wednesday evening, police said. Police suspect his death to be a case of suicide.

The 62-year-old Rajendran, who was a Rajya Sabha member as an AIADMK representative from 1995-2001, had parked his car near the new bus stand close to his house in Kovilpatti and shot himself around 6 pm, police said. Rajendran seemed to have used his own licensed revolver. However, no suicide note was found from the spot.

DMK politician N Rajendran found dead in car with bullet:

A native of Kovilpatti, Rajendran was survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. He was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the AIADMK in the year 1996. In 2000, he switched to the DMK which appointed him treasurer of the Tuticorin district unit around that time. In recent times, he had stayed away from politics and was running a marriage hall and a bus service.

Police said the reason for the suicide was not known and investigations were on. “He seems to have used his own licensed revolver. There was no suicide note found. A family problem appears to have pushed him. We are investigating,” a police officer said.

According to reports, Rajendran was under pressure as there was trouble in one of his daughter-in-law’s house and after suffering losses in a business recently. Investigators are planning to look into his call records for clues.
