GATE 2015: Basic Things to Remember before one day: GATE 2015 online exam will be conducted on January 31, 1st, 7th & 8th February 2015. Graduate Aptitude Test examination is held for testing the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. The GATE score of a candidate reflects the relative performance level of a candidate. But before going to the examination there are some basic things which you should know. All about GATE 2015 Tomorrow Exam:

GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. This year IIT Kanpur is conducting Gate exam. The exam will be conducted in both Forenoon (9 am to 12 noon) & Afternoon Session (2 pm to 5 pm). There are a total of 22 papers that will be conducted through the ONLINE computer based test (CBT).

The GATE examination consists of a single paper of 3 hours duration which contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks. GATE 2015 would contain questions of two different types in various papers:

(i) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) carrying 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections. These questions are objective in nature, and each will have a choice of four answers, out of which the candidate has to mark the correct answer(s).

(ii) Numerical Answer Questions of 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections. For these questions the answer is a real number, to be entered by the candidate using the virtual keypad. No choices will be shown for this type of questions.

The question numbers of attempted and unattempted questions are also shown to the right of the screen. A candidate can then click on any of the question numbers to view the question, in order to attempt revise his/her answer to the question. Each question number will be displayed in a particular colour depending on the status of the question:

1.    White: Not visited : Question has not been viewed/attempted

2.    Red : Not Answered : Question has been viewed but not answered

3.    Green : Answered : Question has been answered

4.    Violet : Marked : Question has been marked for review later but not Answered.

5.     Violet with Green Tick Mark: You have answered the question but marked for review.

Basic Things to Remember before one day for GATE Exam 2015

Candidates are not permitted to submit or leave the examination center before the test time i.e 180 minutes. The exam will be of 100 marks.

Non-Programmable Calculators Allowed in GATE 2015:

According to a notification on the official website, “GATE 2015 committee has decided to allow the candidates to use their own non-programmable calculator for the GATE 2015 examination and hence, please note that the on-line virtual calculator will not be available for GATE 2015”.

The Marking scheme for GATE 2015:

Negative Marking: For 1-mark multiple-choice questions, 1/3 marks will be deducted for a wrong answer. For 2-mark multiple-choice questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. However, no negative marking is applicable for numerical answer type questions.

In all papers, GA questions carry a total of 15 marks. The GA section includes 5 questions carrying 1-mark each (sub-total 5 marks) and 5 questions carrying 2-marks each (sub-total 10 marks).

In the papers bearing the codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE, the Engineering Mathematics will carry around 15% of the total marks, the General Aptitude section will carry 15% of the total marks and the remaining percentage of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper.

In the papers bearing the codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL, the General Aptitude section will carry 15% of the total marks and the remaining 85% of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper.

Biometric verification for GATE 2015 candidates:

As published on the official site of GATE 2015, it says that the organizing committee will conduct bio-metric verification on randomly selected candidates before the examination starts.. The biometric verification will include information of both photograph and fingerprints captured.

Basic Things to Remember for GATE Exam 2015:

  • Don’t Forget Your Wrist Watch and Calculator
  • Keep Pencil, Eraser, Sharpener and Water Bottle
  • Keep your GATE 2015 admit card along with ID Proof.
  • Say No to Heavy Breakfast
  • Wear Comfortable Clothes
  • Keep a Clip Board With You
  • Reach the examination centre 30 min before the start of the exam.
  • One day before GATE, stop thinking about it. Watch a movie or anything that relaxes you. Appear for the exam with a fresh mind.
  • Use the Given Answer Choices to Find the Correct Answer
  • Pick Some Random Question, if You Are Not Able to Solve the Questions

Note: Candidate must bring at least one original and valid photo identification along with the GATE 2015 admit card. Please note that the photo ID details should be same as mentioned in your application form. You may bring your college ID or employee identification card containing photographs. If that is not available, you can bring driving license or passport or PAN card or Voter ID or Aadhar UID.

More Details about Gate Exam 2015:

  • Over 500 institutes including the IISc, IITs and NITs require GATE score for admission to their ME, M.Tech and MS Programs.
