Google Praises And Thanked 86-Year-Old Woman For Polite Internet Searches

Search Giant ‘Google’ has thanked an 86-year-old grandmother for her ‘Polite Search’. This British woman proved that old-fashioned manners still have a prominent place in the modern world when she typed “please” and “thank you” in an internet search.

She is May Ashworth. Her grandson Ben John had clicked a photo of her laptop while she was requesting the Google politely. He took to Twitter to share the picture with the world. In that search, she was asking for a translation of the Roman numerals MCMXCVIII.

Ben shared that he and his friend do not have a clothes dryer and they used to go to Ashworth’s house for their laundry. While he was at her home for a purpose, he observed that grandmother was using a polite language in her Google search.

He then thought that she might be thinking that some physical person is there to respond her and asked her why she was using ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. Grandmother answered saying ‘I thought that by being polite and using her manners, the search would be quicker.’

Ben John has been retweeted for several thousand times. Google UK tweeted a thanks message to 86-year-old May Ashworth saying, “In a world of billions of searches, yours made us smile, THANK YOU.” Google’s main Twitter account too responded with “Dear Grandma, no thanks necessary.”
