Hyderabad: Dead Bodies Gone Missing From Osmania And Gandhi Hospitals
Found injured, unconscious or even abandoned by the road side, some of the persons who are admitted to Osmania General Hospital and Gandhi Hospital here by the Police, go absconding sometimes in a matter of hours. At least 10 dead bodies are being smuggled to other parts of the country for various medical purposes, an RTI query has revealed, pointing to the active involvement of a mafia carrying out illegal trafficking of human bodies.
117 unidentified patients in critical conditions walked away after regaining consciousness!
An RTI query has revealed that as many as 117 of such patients, termed ‘unknown’ have ‘absconded’ from these two hospitals between January 1 and August 15 this year, after being admitted as medico-legal cases.
With no claimants, these patients vanish into thin air, leaving no clue about their whereabouts with the hospital staff or security guards. OGH has 120-odd security persons working in shifts, and a government decision on a proposal to install around 70 CCTV cameras has been long due, he added.
Dr G Venkateshwarlu too maintained that these ‘unknown’ patients just walk out without informing anybody . “We have nothing to do with such cases,” he said.
Mafia Behind Disappearance of Dead Bodies?
Addressing media here on Monday, Lok Satta party senior leader D Sreenivaas Moorthy said, “Hyderabad has become a centre for illegal trafficking of dead bodies. Organized mafia is supplying dead bodies mostly to Manipal, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and other parts of the country on a regular basis.
“The Parliament should pass a special Act on donation of dead bodies on the lines of Jeevandan. Also, the Telangana government should amend GO-9,” said Rajeshwar Rao of Satya Harishchandra foundation. They also demanded the MCI (Medical Council of India) to implement “animated body dissection” instead of “dead body dissection” for MBBS 1st year students so that demand for corpses will come down.
