According to the reports, Wearing a frock, the woman had travelled from Doha on a Qatar Airways flight and was to take a connecting flight to Delhi. But after she landed in Mumbai, she was allegedly stopped from boarding the flight by three IndiGo employees.

As per the airline official, “since the woman was using the air ticket provided by the airline for free to its staff and their kin, they were bound to follow the dress code laid down by the airline.”

“While I was waiting for my connecting flight, I heard a commotion and found her (the woman passenger) crying. There were three IndiGo employees who had refused to let her board her flight. They said she was not wearing appropriate clothes,” said Das a co-passenger who is travelling in the same flight.

However, she missed the flight and accommodated in the another flight after she reportedly changed into trousers.

“We regret that an IndiGo passenger (who happens to be an ex IndiGo employee and a family member of a current employee) experienced an untoward behaviour at the Mumbai airport… As per the guidelines outlined, employees and the nominated family members are required to maintain a specific dress code, as and when they fly with the airline under the staff leisure travel privileges. Keeping in mind this policy, the Mumbai ground staff followed the protocol to brief this passenger on the dress code policy,” said the airline statement.

Indigo officials added that when the family members are travelling by the staff leisure travel privileges which are offered by the airlines they should follow the dress code. However, airline dress codes are not applicable for the fair paying passengers.
