Though the actor was trolled, thankfully, many also spoke up in his defence condemning body shamers.
Why is everyone body shaming Fardeen Khan now? He put on weight. Big deal. Get over it.

Body Shaming Fardeen Khan? You don’t know the reason why he gained weight, even if you know he didn’t take your money to eat.

Read a few horrible, extremely nasty tweets on Fardeen Khan for gaining weight. Twitter can be such a ruthless medium, how sad! #BodyShaming

However, it’s such a pity of people trolling and making humour on actor’s gaining weight. The very fact that an actor putting on weight is a source of humour or validation for us is a very troubling trend.
