Indian Hackers Defaced Pakistani Websites Within Hours After Two Indian Government Sites Were Hacked

A Pakistani hacker had crossed his limits by hacking an Indian State Government website which is illegal and he posted “Security is just an illusion” on the website after hacking it. A group of Network Technologists called as ‘The Mallu Cyber Soldiers’ had identified the issue and took it as serious and had given a counter attack within hours. The group had hacked around 120 government and private Pakistani sites in a reply.

As the Indian hackers were frustrated for the Pakistan hacker’s post, Indian hackers also tracked the Facebook page of the suspected Pakistani National behind the cyber crime. Thus, after the investigation the Indian officials had identified that the hacker was Faisal Afzal and he hacked the site using the ID Faisal 1337 who has been in the habit of hacking into the official websites like government sites, university sites and other institution sites.

The hacked web pages showed an image of a burning Indian flag with a Text on the website read as follows.

“Official website of the RC Office, Govt of Kerala- New Delhi Hacked! Pakistan Zindabad”

“We Are Team Pak Cyber Attacker. Security is just an illusion.”

Faisal had been hacking the Indian sites since August. He started hacking into the website of Chennai customs and Indian Boxing Federation site. The hacking of the government website, www.kerala.gov.in was detected around 8:00 A.M on Sunday. The hacker besides posting the message about the ‘security’, he also posted a picture of the Indian Tricolor which is on fire.

The site which was hacked got restored after 12 hours after identifying. Faisal didn’t stop hacking single site, later he also hacked www.gokdelhi.kerala.gov.in. The state cyber police have registered a case and started the investigation. This issue of hacking the government sites is worrying the state government and the cyber police. The identity of Faisal, as well as the group of Indian hackers who launched the counter attack, remain unclear.

There has been no official statement or case filed from either the Indian government or the Pakistani authorities after this latest bout of cyber attacks. However, initial reports say that the Pakistani hacker was only able to deface the homepage and that no damage was done to the server that the website was hosted on. Officials from the Kerala State Data Center are working to restore the website.

This is not the first time that Indian and Pakistani hackers are having a fight against each other about hacking the sites. State IT mission director K Mohammed Y Safir Ullah said the government was worried over a possible backlash following the afternoon’s developments. “I met the principal secretary and discussed the issue. Officials concerned have been asked to stay vigilant,” he said. The framework of many government websites is not updated for the past five years. “Hence, an immediate overall up-gradation is not possible,” he said.
