Indrani Mukherjea Still to Be Critical for Next 48 Hours as  She Lapses into Deep Sleep

One of the most intriguing murder case of Sheena Bora’s prime accused Indrani Mukherjea is believed to be still cities following her suicide attempt in prison. JJ Hospital of Mumbai in which Indrani Mukherjea has been admitted for medication has announced her health status to be critical. Indrani Mukherjea is one among the three prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case was arrested on 25 August for her role in the murder of Sheena Bora, her daughter from a previous marriage, in April 2012.

JJ Hospital to Brief Health Status of Indrani Mukherjea in Evening Bulletin

Doctors at JJ Hospital said that Indrani Mukherjea had lapsed into the deep sleep which has increased the complications hence they sleeked 48 hours of time in this regard on Saturday. TP Lahane, dean of Sir JJ Hospital said, “Indrani is responding to treatment and is now critical but stable and is under observation in the criticare center.” Prison sources and the cops are speculating that she might have tried to commit suicide consuming overdose of medicines prescribed to her.

Sir JJ hospital sources asked for more 72 hours of time to give a detailed report on her health status, hence next 48 hours are considered to be more crucial and critical for her. Dean of Sir JJ Hospital, TP Lahane said, “She is responding to voice commands, asked for water once but remains in a semi-conscious state. She is also on the ventilator to help her breathe. We are waiting for the urine report to determine what could be the exact cause of her present condition.”

High Levels of Anti-Depressant Drugs Discovered

He further added “She has not regained consciousness yet, but we are trying our best. Indrani is still critical but is responding to treatment. We are closely monitoring her vital parameters. Ms. Mukerjea was not on ventilator support but was being given oxygen because she is not able to breath on her own.”

Hinduja Hospital laboratory medical report of samples collected from Ms. Mukherjea disclosed that level of benzodiazepine, an anti-depressant was found raised in her urine sample. Dr. Lahane said “Normally if a patient is on anti-depressant drug, the level of benzodiazepine in urine is 200. But in Indrani’s case, it is 2088. The report is positive for the drug overdose. Anti-epileptic drugs have already been ruled out. The (test) has come negative. It is only the anti-depressant that has caused the thing (collapse).”

Rushed to JJ Hospital on Friday

Byculla Jail authorities made Ms. Mukherjea to rush to Sir JJ Hospital on Friday after she complained of uneasiness and breathing issues around 2 pm on Friday. She was treated earlier at the Byculla jail by the doctors under judicial custody for two hours. A series of medical tests carried over her claimed her health status to be critical. Dr. Lahane claimed “We think that she (Indrani) consumed some tablets… we are treating her on that basis.”

Principal Secretary (Home) VS Singh said, “probe had been ordered into this issue. if anybody is found guilty, they would not be spared” on being asked about the possibility of foul play. Statements of jail staff and inmates have been recorded which would be submitted to the Home Dept on Monday by the IG-prisons.

Contradictory Statements of Deputy Director Over Drug Overdose

The Deputy Director at the Government laboratory, Dr. Nitin Chutke has ruled over the overdose theory of drugs by Ms. Mukherjea. He reported that there are no traces of any chemicals found in Indrani Mukerjea’s blood. Byculla jail authorities stated that Indrani was allowed  to take two pills for epileptic problems one in the morning and one in the evening, under the supervision of the jail authorities.
