IPhone SE: Apple Unveils Cheapest-Ever iPhone With 4-Inch Display, India Pricing Starts Rs. 39,000
Apple has finally unveiled its newest small new iPhone with a display screen of 4-inch. Dubbed as iPhone SE, the new Apple iPhone is claimed to be the cheapest-ever and most inexpensive iPhone which is ever launched by the tech giant. At a launch event which was held at the Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California on March 21, 2016, i.e., yesterday where it had two major product announcements. One is the new iPhone SE and the other device is the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro.
The announcements, which were largely anticipated, strive to hold up the company’s commercial momentum in the face of climbing hurdles. On Monday, Apple has unveiled the small new iPhone SE alongside a new iPad tablet for business purpose and it also slashed the price of Apple watch. iPhone SE – Specs and Features
The new Apple iPhone SE, Special Edition features a 4-inch Retina display with a pixel resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels giving it a pixel density of 326ppi. The handset looks quite similar to the iPhone 5s with the same metal body, four colours, flat edges with rounded corners, volume rocker buttons on the left-hand side. The new iPhone SE measures 7.6mm thick and weigh 113 grams.
The new iPhone SE is powered by the company’s latest A9 chipset that powers the larger (flagship) 4.7-inch iPhone 6s, which came out six months ago. Apple has placed in an A9 chip with 64-bit architecture and it has an enclosed M9 motion co-processor. The iPhone comes in four variant colours such as Silver, Gold, Space Gray and Rose Gold. The company announce that the new iPhone Special Edition will begin selling in India starting from early April.
According to Apple, the iPhone SE has 2x the CPU performance and 3x the GPU performance of the iPhone 5s. The device comes in two storage variants such as 16GB and the 64GB variant. That’s essentially receiving the entrails of the iPhone 6s into a 4-inch form factor for all possible objectives. On the Camera front, the new iPhone SE receives the best from Apple that comes equipped with a 12MP iSight rear camera with a f/2.2 aperture along with support for Live photos.
The sensor will be supported by a new image signal processor that supports Focus pixels for swift focusing, Auto HDR for photos, true tone flash LED. The device is capable of shooting 4K videos as well. On the other side, the device bears a 1.2MP camera with a f/2.4 aperture and HD recording capability. One of the significant features of the new iPhone SE is that it comes with a fingerprint scanner on the home button making it acceptable for Apple Pay.
The iPhone SE will run on iOS 9 and it touts that the device is capable of delivering a 14 hour talk time on 3G, 13 hours internet use on LTE. In terms of connectivity, the device supports Wi-fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 and much more.
Pricing
The Apple iPhone SE starts at $399 (US pricing) and the Company announced that the retail price in India would be Rs. 39,000 for the 16GB variant while the 64GB variant is priced at $499. The pre-orders for the new iPhone SE will begin from 24 March and the shipping starts from 31 March. In India, the iPhone SE will start selling from early April onwards. The device will go on a sale starting March 31 in various countries that include Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK, US Virgin Islands and the US.
