IPL 8 2015 Auction: Delhi Daredevils Picks up Yuvraj Singh for Rs. 16 crores
Indian Cricketer, All-rounder, Yuvraj Singh made it this time being one of the leading cricket player to be auctioned at the IPL Auctions. He had emerged as the costlier cricketer even after being dropped out from the World Cup Squad. The young dashing and smashing cricketer was bought by the Delhi Dare Devils franchise at a record price of Rs 16 crore ($2.57 million approx) on Sunday during the IPL players’ auction for the IPL 8 Season.
Delhi Daredevils Buys Yuvraj Singh for 16 Crores for IPL8:
Experienced cricketer of Indian Cricket Yuvaraj Singh has been purchased by the Delhi Dare Devils for Rs. 16 Crores, who had a base price of 2 crores though. Till date, no other cricketer or player has been purchased in the IPL history as like Yuvraj Singh. Both the franchises Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore fought for his services where the auctioning of Yuvaraj Singh went on fierce tug of war. Royal Challengers Bangalore purchased Yuvraj Singh for Rs 14 crore during the last season at a hotel in Bangalore.

What surprised everyone across the nation is that he absence on the first fifteen member’s squad men of ICC Cricket World Cup Indian cricket team? Despite being out of the ICC WC Indian cricket team he has been bought for such as record-breaking price. To purchase the India’ 2011 World Cup hero initially four bidders have been in the race to buy him and they are Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers, Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils. Later when the price of Yuvraj Singh reached Rs 7 crore RR and KXIP quit the auction of Yuvaraj Singh and RCB entered the fray with the Delhi Daredevils.

Among all the eight franchises taking part in the auction, Delhi Daredevils has the largest purse of Rs 39.75 crore. Delhi Daredevils franchise to buy Sri Lankan captain and all-rounder Angelo Mathews for Rs 7.5 crore and this adds another credit to the Delhi Daredevils franchise of buying a third highest price in the first two rounds of auction of new IPL 8 season auctions . Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Ct wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik for Rs 10.5 crore which made him the second highest purchased cricketer though he was purchased for Rs. 12 Crores last year by the Delhi Daredevils franchise.
IPL 8 Players Auction:
Sun Risers Hyderabad franchise bought the former England captain Kevin Pietersen for a base price of Rs 2 crore by the Delhi Daredevils. This is upsetting aspect for the English player as he was bought for Rs. 9 crore last year by Delhi Daredevils franchise. Few other noted star cricketers who were purchased at the IPL 8 auctioning include India Test opener Murali Vijay for Rs 3 crore (to KXIP), leg-spinner Amit Mishra (Rs 3.5 crore by DD), Aaron Finch (Rs 3.2 crore by Mumbai Indians), Eoin Morgan (Rs 1.5 crore by SRH) and Kane Williamson (Rs 60 lakh by SRH).
During the first two rounds of IPL 8 Auctions for marquee players Sri Lankans Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara and South African Hashim Amla went unsold which was attended by Nita Ambani, Ricky Ponting, Anil Kumble, V V S Laxman, Muttiah Muralitharan, Rahul Dravid, Gary Kirsten, Stephen Fleming, Vijay Mallya and Preity Zinta among others. The other top-flight players who will be up for auction this year include Mahela Jayawardene, Eoin Morgan, Kumar Sangakkara, Murali Vijay, Darren Sammy, Angelo Mathews, Aaron Finch and Alex Hales.
IPL 8 Auctioning is conducted by the Richard Madley, a professional auctioneer from England who has been conducting the player auctions since the inaugural IPL season in 2008. For the 2015 season a total of 122 cricketers, including 78 Indians and 44 foreign players, have been retained by the franchises while six Indian cricketers have been traded during the window for player trade this year.
