Though the aspects of MK Gandhi’s private life has been very rarely spoken and told while it is evident that he was an unusual sex life freak. There have been instances that Mr. Gandhi often passed on some exciting conceptions of sexual morality to his followers guiding them how to get the best of it.

Though the views of MK Gandhi were usually popular in the freedom movement of India while his views over chastity were not always popular, abnormal and unnatural. However, his proposals were passed on by the first Prime Minister of independent India, Jawaharlal Nehru to the newly married couples to hitch up continent in the interest of their souls.

MK Gandhi used to commit an unusual practice of sleeping naked next to marriageable, nude women to examine his chasteness apart from his pious plea for chastity. Jad Adams says that while exploring a hundred volumes of MK Gandhi complete works and many books of attestant materials some of the hidden and widely speculated facts of MK Gandhi were discovered which helped him to write a book over his chasteness titled, Gandhi-Naked Ambition.

What Made MK Gandhi’s Bizarre Sexual History Unpopular?

After the death of MK Gandhi, to elevate his persona into the “Father of the Nation” many of his bizarre sexual history popular during his lifetime were distorted or suppressed. Gandhi was called as “a most dangerous, semi-repressed sex maniac”? by the pre-independence prime minister of the Indian state of Travancore which signifies chasteness of him.

As it is widely known that MK Gandhi was no exception to then followed child marriage custom so was he married with 14 years old Kasturba while he was 13 years old in 1883. They had the good marital life who sharing a bed in the separate room in his family home resulting in the aftermaths of marriage i.e., pregnancy.

How MK Gandhi Developed Aversion Towards Sex

It is being supported by the facts of his work that after two years of his marriage, Gandhi went on to make love with his wife leaving the bedside of his father when he was lay dying. Finally after his return all he could witness was that his father was no more who breathed in last breath when he was having pleasure with his wife.

Regretting his stance, he developed an incidental intense aversion towards lustful desires. However, his harshly critical attitude to sex wasn’t developed at an early age while it is being supported by his works that he took the vow of brahmacharya at the age of 36, in the year 1906 determined to lead a spiritual life. Historians claim that may during his term at Southern Africa serving at the ambulance corps in the war hit British Empire, he might have changed up his mind to the human kind a better way.

During early days of his vow, he was successful in embracing the poverty while it was sexual abstention which sidestepped him. Determined to work over these he came up with some complex rules made him be chaste enough even while being engaged in the most explicit sexual conversation, letters and behaviour. Feeling good of his conversion passed on an advice to the people of the nation through some of the newspapers that “It is the duty of every thoughtful Indian not to marry. In case he is helpless in regard to marriage, he should abstain from sexual intercourse with his wife.”

He stepped ahead conducting camps at his ashrams implementing his ideas over sex making young boys and girls to bathe and sleep together virtuously while upon being ascertained with any kind of sexual talk he punished such people. He advice separating men and women that married men shouldn’t be alone with their wives and should take a cold bath if they ever feel passionate about the intimacy.

All these rules were exempted when it came to Gandhi, as he used to sleep and bathe with one of the beautiful Sushila Nayar who used  attend him since her girlhood as personal physician. Gandhi when asked about how he used to be chaste enough during such instances he said that  “While she is bathing I keep my eyes tightly shut. I do not know … whether she bathes naked or with her underwear on. I can tell from the sound that she uses soap.”

Vital Fluids of Gandhi Had Magical Powers

He used to have more women around him as he grew old and lost wife Kasturba to attend him at the ashram, which even made the inmates of the ashram turn up as green-eyed monster upon evidencing such favours. It is being said by the Jad Adams that Gandhi forced women inmates of the ashram to sleep with him violating his own set rules to sleep with their own husbands. All these women were obliged to assist him in the reading of his letters, an exercise in strip-tease or other non-contact sexual activity etc.

Though most his explicit materials were ruined while his remarks in his letter would bring in some clear picture, “Vina’s sleeping with me might be called an accident. All that can be said is that she slept close to me.” It is been supported in a few compositions of him that Gandhi had had an almost magical belief in the power of semen: “One who conserves his vital fluid acquires unfailing power,” he said.

His principles were most of the time offensive such as sleeping next to  33 years old Sushila when he was 77-year-old which means he was making love with a woman almost half her age. Gandhi said to his 18-year-old grandniece Manu “We both may be killed by the Muslims, and must put our purity to the ultimate test, so that we know that we are offering the purest of sacrifices, and we should now both start sleeping naked” while asking her sleep with him at the times of inter-communal violence of Bengal.

Redefined Chastity or Brahmacharya to Fit His Sexual Practices

Since such deeds of him violated the practice of brahmacharya, hence he came up with a new definition as per him which was stated as “One who never has any lustful intention, who, by constant attendance upon God, has become proof against conscious or unconscious emissions, who is capable of lying naked with naked women, however beautiful, without being in any manner whatsoever sexually excited … who is making daily and steady progress towards God and whose every act is done in pursuance of that end and no other.”

To fit his personal practices, MK Gandhi effectively redefined the concept of chastity or brahmacharya saying that one who is following this path is allowed to do whatever he or she wished until and unless they have no lustful intentions in their mind. Leaders  of opposition, his party and his family members criticized the self-righteousness ideals of Gandhi which made him lose some of his close associates when they denied to adapt his preaching’s.

At All Times Abha and Manu Were on His Side

Gandhi said If I don’t let Manu sleep with me though I regard it as essential that she should, wouldn’t that be a sign of weakness in me?” clearing the clouds of hunch over his obliqueness. Later Gandhi’s grandnephew Kanu Gandhi wife Abha aged 18 years old too joined Manu sleeping with him when he was heading the national freedom movement in 1947.

It was Manu and Abha who were on the sides of Gandhi at the time of his assassination in January 1948. It was the supporters and family members of Gandhi tried to remove Manu from the scene and when the departed leader wrote before his assignation as “I have asked her to write about her sharing the bed with me.” Followed by which son of Gandhi, Devdas instructed Manu to be silent when she was accompanied to Delhi station.

After the death of Gandhi when there were questions raised over his chastity experiments, in the year 1970 his personal physician Sushila Nayar said “Later on, when people started asking questions about his physical contact with women – with Manu, with Abha, with me – the idea of brahmacharya experiments was developed … in the early days, there was no question of calling this a brahmacharya experiment.”

Which means Gandhi ascended with his own cosmic system of rewards and benefits when he was challenged over his ideals and principles living his life as he wished. India’s Father of the Nation was yet another great man who turned up with his own set of rules as he went along. Eventually, it Gandhi’s sexual behaviour talks and principles were destructed after his death. It was not the Gandhi’s vital fluid while the negotiators of the terms of India’s freedom, power brokers of Congress Party who kept India intact.
