Know Why Muslims Observe Moharram, Supported by Stories Narrated by Ancestors

People hardly know why Moharram or Muharram is celebrated across the world especially in India. We usually witness processions on streets, a tazia with mourners in the black beating and hitting themselves with chains, blades, swords their chests and conceive it as the only way it is celebrated denying actual theories why it is celebrated.

Truth Behind the Observance of Moharram by Muslim Community

Since 680 AD, this story has been told year by year which has been narrated by Times New Roman. After the death of prophet Muhammad who united different clans of people in Arab, divergences among his followers set out over the succession that would lead the people after departed soul. There was a difference of opinion among his followers in connection with where Caliphs could be buried.

Following the death of third Caliph, Uthman, the fifth Caliph Hasan gave up his duties and obligations to let Muawiyah assume duties for the duration of the latter’s life. However, Hasan was poisoned later and Yazid, son of Muawiyah was claimed as successor. Ascertained with the charge of Yazid, younger brother of Hassan, Hussain denied the support to Yazid as caliph and choose to leave the Medina with his family and well wishers.

The story of ends with this whose later sequences were left untold. Phrases of the Nuaha state the Hussain hold a baby in his hands dying of thirsty expecting the enemies to show some mercy over the infant. Like this many grievous instances have been narrated in the song which would leave any one weeping.

Broad-mindedly Moharram is the religious event where the adversities and betrayal have been caused to Hussain and his followers by Yazid. People carry out processions in bloodshed expressing their grief over the unfortunate event, saluting the brave hearts who were determined to fight against the Yazid and his forces till their last breath. Moharram is about remembering the great catastrophes which have been caused by someone who is desperate about power.
