In a shocking incident, a man (Mallikarjun) was fished out by the police assuming he drowned accidentally during a Ganesh idol immersion in the city. But a CC camera footage of the incident has surfaced which tells a different story.

The video Footage has revealed the dreadful murder which was planned and executed amid hundreds of people watching the visarjan of Ganesh idols. The video shows how Mallikarjun was drowned to death by some Ganapati devotees while hundreds of people watched not knowing what actually was happening.

The incident took place at an immersion pond adjacent to the Sharanabasaveshwar Tank in the city (Gulbarga) during Ganesh Visarjan. With this, the Ganapati Visarjan festivities turned out to be a watery grave for Mallikarjun. The motive behind the crime is not known yet.
