Bollywood actress Sunny Leone’s adult comedy Mastizaade, which hit the theaters on Friday, Janaury 29 has earned Rs 5.59 crore at the box office on the opening day. Though the film was released worldwide to negative and mixed reviews, Mastizaade collected Rs 5.59 crore on day 1 which made it Sunny Leone’s third highest Opening Day grosser.

Early reports had suggested that Mastizaade has got off to a less than average start with occupancy rate being pegged at 30% during morning shows and the first day’s take has mirrored this in reality. The film, though has surpassed a few releases of the actress, it is Ragini MMS 2 that still holds the first position with a collection of Rs. 8.43 crores, followed by Sunny Leone’s debut film Jism 2 which had collected Rs. 6.20 crores on its Opening Day.

Directed by Milap Zaveri, this Indian sex comedy film stars Sunny Leone in a dual role as Laila and Lily alongside Tushar Kapoor and Vir Das in lead roles. The film has Shaad Randhawa, Suresh Menon, and Vivek Vaswani in supporting roles while Ritesh Deshmukh will appear in a cameo. The film is about two boys who in a blatant bit of product placement with tragic implications for the brand involved, wear Lawman Jeans to prey on women in rehab by getting them drunk.

“Mastizaade” had a good run at the box office, but if compared to last week’s adult comedy “Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3“, the film had a slow start.
