Today’s win for team India gave more hopes to the fans all over the world that they will go forward and win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and bring the cup back home. A special innings by MS Dhoni and Raina proved that the middle order is strong enough to face any kind of pressure situation even in the big stage like the worldcup.

Finishing matches like this with style has been a trend set up by MS Dhoni himself. Here are few moments or instances in ODI cricket where MSD has made India cross the line in style with a six!

#1. 15* vs West Indies in 2005

It all began against West Indies in a tri-series involving Sri Lanka, India and West Indies. These were very early days of MSD in ODI cricket. West Indies won the toss and batted first, but were bowled out for just 178.dhoni six1

#2. 67* vs Zimbabwe in 2005

#3. 183* vs Sri Lanka in 2005

This is MSD’s highest score in ODI cricket so far. It was a mind blowing innings against Sri Lanka which made him get noticed in international cricket. Dhoni was promoted to number 3, and immediately took the attack to the opposition. India won by 6 wickets.

#4. 45* vs Sri Lanka in 2005

It was again against Sri Lanka in the same series where he scored a tremendous 183*. This time he was sent out at number 6 but the position didn’t matter to him, because he finished the match in style yet again!

#5. 45* vs Pakistan in 2007

It took another two years for Dhoni to replicate the same feat!  Dhoni’s calm presence in the middle ensured that there were no further wobbles as he finished the chase with a six off Salman Butt.

Pakistan set India a target of 300. By the time Dhoni came in at number 5, India needed only 69 runs to win with plenty of overs to spare and he finished off the job.

Chasing 275 in a world cup final against a team in form Sri Lanka and plenty wickets down by the time he came on to the crease. The stage was set for Dhoni as he hadn’t made enough runs in the tournament. He made the big move to push himself above Yuvraj who had been in great form.

#8. 45* vs Sri Lanka in 2013

Sri Lanka again! Sadly, they were at the receiving end on so many occasions which also highlights the fact that they played India frequently during this period. 15 runs were needed and he got them in four balls that included a couple of sixes.

Here’s the latest of them all! India were looking at their first defeat when they lost their 4th wicket with only 92 on the board, but Captain cool sounded a warning to his rivals that he still has the same venom inside him.
