Meet Imran Khan, The Man PM Modi Hailed In His Wembley Speech From London

Addressing a massive crowd at London’s Wembley Stadium on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again won the hearts of many with his speech. It was a good and appealing speech in many ways but the most unique part of the speech was when he gave a shout-out to a teacher named Imran Khan back in Rajasthan. “My India resides in people like Imran Khan,” the Indian Prime Minister said.

Imran Khan (37), who identify himself as a web developer and a mathematics teacher in a government school has made a number of mobile applications and dedicated them to students free of charge. “In Rajasthan’s Alwar there is a man called Imran Khan. He has made 50 mobile apps. And Alwar’s Imran Khan dedicated those apps to the students for free,” said PM Modi, as he talked about India.

Imran Khan is a mathematics teacher at a government Sanskrit senior secondary school and has created 50 apps in less than 3 years. With no formal education in computers, leave alone app development, Imran Khan has learnt everything he knows from books and Google. Back in 2005, he learnt HTML and designed a website (www.gtalks.com) himself to answer general knowledge-related questions. He has also created over a hundred websites to help students. In 2012, he developed his first app; the NCERT Learn Science for the Class 9 students.

Imran says he learned programming from books of his younger brother who studied B-tech. His 42 education apps on android have seen thousand of downloads. Of all the apps he has made so far, General Science in Hindi is the top grosser, with around 500,000 downloads. The then district collector of Alwar, Ashutosh Pednekar was impressed with his design and suggested him to start developing apps.

As Modi rightly pointed out at Britain’s biggest stadium, ‘My India resides in people like Imran Khan.’ Around 60,000 members of the Indian community gathered at Wembley to hear PM Modi.
