Micromax’s Yu, which entered the Indian smartphone market with the launch of Yureka smartphone in December 2014, is unveiling its second Cyanogen-based smartphone – the Yuphoria – in India today. Micromax’s Yu has launched the all new Yuphoria, a successor to the Yureka in India. Priced at Rs 6,999, it’s the company’s second Cyanogen-based smartphone and claims to bring features seen in a flagship device at an affordable price.

Micromax Co-Founder Rahul Sharma at the launch revealed that the Yu Yuphoria went through a number of processes including pre-bending, stamping, welding, laser etching, sandblasting, and polishing. Sharma claimed that the Yu team achieved sleek matte finish after extreme cycles of sandblasting which they learnt from the automobile industry.

General & Display:

The Yu Yuphoria smartphone comes with metal body. The metal stamping process for the phone and physical vapour deposition used for the multi-colour along with polishing and anti-fingerprint coating. The device is 8.25mm in thickness and weighs 143 grams.The device promises better grip and a flagship feel.The smartphone sports a 5-inch IPS display with 720 x 1080 pixels resolution with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Software and Hardware:

Yuphoria runs Android Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12. It comes with an app themer that allows users to customise the look and feel of the device. It has the 64 bit, Snapdragon 410 quad core processor that has a clock speed of 1.2 GHz. It offers 16 GB ROM and 2 GB RAM. As expected, it comes with the Android 5.0 on top of which it has Cyanogen.

Camera and Battery:

On the camera front, the device sports an 8MP rear snapper and a 5MP front-facing camera. A 2230 mAh battery completes the package. It also features the Quick charge ability seen mostly in high-end phones.

Connectivity and Sensors:

The dual-SIM based Yuphoria supports 4G and features accelerometer, ambient, proximity, gyroscope, and e-compass.

Price and Release date:

This new smartphone is called Yu Yuphoria and is priced at Rs 6,999. It will be available from Amazon.in and registration for the same will start at 5 PM today while sales will start from 28th May.
