Micromax Opens Manufacturing Facility in Hyderabad

Mobile maker Micromax opened it’s new Manufacturing facility near Hyderabad, where besides the phones, LED televisions and lights are to be made. It will have the capacity to manufacture one million mobile phones per month. The unit, which opened at Fab City in Hyderabad, currently employs 700 people and will increase the number to 1,000 in next two months.

Micromax has invested Rs 100 crore for the Hyderabad plant. On the occasion, Micromax co-founder Rajesh Agarwal said the company was aiming to be the country’s first and largest indigenous phone manufacturer.

Micromax to shift Beijing R&D facility to Hyderabad:

“We want to establish R&D facility here by shifting existing operations from Beijing, China,” Co-Founder Rajesh Agarwal said at the inauguration of the Maheshwaram plant, by State IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao.

“We have been the front runners for the Make in India initiative by assembling the products locally. It is primarily due to the industry friendly approach and forward thinking of Telangana state government that we could set up the plant here in a record time of six months,” he added.

Spread over 19 acres, this is the second manufacturing plant of Bhagati Products Ltd in India. By 2020, Micromax eyes to be among the top five globally in the smartphone segment.
