Just a few days back, Tanmay Bhat’s Snapchat joke titled “Sachin vs Lata Civil War,” mimicking Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar ran into stiff criticism on social media and offline as well. The video hasn’t gone down too well with a lot of people and triggered a sharp backlash. B-Town slammed Tanmay calling him ‘insensitive.’ Things took a serious turn with political parties like the Shiv Sena, MNS and NCP jumping into the fray.

MNS Chitrapat Sena president Ameya Khopkar demanded the video to be taken down immediately and said he intended to file an FIR against Tanmay. The Shiv Sena and the NCP also said that they would be filing a police complaint against Tanmay Bhat.

Ameya Khopkar on Sunday said, “Tomorrow morning, I am going to visit Shivaji Park police station and file FIR against Bhatt.” MNS has also threatened violence against any event featuring the All India Bakchod’s (AIB) stand-up comedian.

Meanwhile, DCP (Operations) Sangramsingh Nishandar said, “No FIR has been registered in this issue as of yet”.

And not all reactions are negative. There are few people who have gone along with the humor and found the video funny.

While some of his fans are trying to defend him, some are still on a ‘We hate Tanmay Bhatt’ and are posting hate tweets. However, Tanmay Bhat clearly doesn’t seem to give a damn about it. Here’s what he tweeted after the backlash on him.
