Reliance Jio Chairman Mukesh Ambani has announced the introduction of the ‘Jio Happy New Year’ offer, which will extend free voice calling, video, data and the full bouquet of Jio applications absolutely free for users until March 31, 2017.

The company had commercially launched its services on September 5, offering unlimited access to HD voice calls (on Jio eligible VoLTE phones), messaging, video calls, 4G data along with access to Jio’s suite of apps till December 31. Now the unlimited offer is extended until March 31.

After crossing the 50 million subscriber mark in just 83 days of its launch, Reliance Jio has emerged as the largest broadband operator in India. Whereas, Airtel took 12 years to reach the 50 million customers milestone and 13 years for Vodafone. On more leading network idea took 13 years of time to acquire 50 million subscribers.

Jio Welcome Offer To Jio Happy New Year Offer:

RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani today announced an extension to Reliance Jio’s attractive Welcome Offer. But, it will now be known as ‘Happy New Year Offer’ and valid till March 31, 2017. Reliance Jio‘s Happy New Year Offer is valid until March 31, 2017. It is applicable for both new and existing subscribers. Starting December 4, new subscribers will be added to the new offer, while existing customers will continue to be on the Welcome Offer until December 31, 2016, and from January 1, they will be automatically signed up to the Happy New Year Offer.

Jio users get access to unlimited free voice and video calls across India, and unlimited high-speed 4G data (daily limit 1GB). If a user crosses the 1GB per day limit, their data speeds will be reduced to 128Kbps for the rest of the day, and normal rates will resume after 12:00 AM.

Reliance claims that 80% of its customers use less than 1GB per day and by reducing the limit all users get fair share of network capacity.

“A Jio customer under the free offer so far has been using 25 times more data than any average Indian broadband user. This is unleashing the transformative potential of data,” Ambani said. “On the whole, Jio is not only delivering four times more data than all other telecom players combined but also much higher speed than any other mobile network in India,” he added.

Ambani also raised his voice against voice call drops with other competitive network operators. He said: “The benefits of Jio’s superior technology have been denied to customers due to an anti-competitive behavior of incumbent operators. In the last three months, nearly 900 crore voice calls from Jio to the networks of our three largest competitors were blocked.”

Ambani has also announced that Jio now fully supports Mobile Number Portability (MNP), meaning that you can switch over to the Jio network without having to change your mobile number. Customers can also opt for the home delivery of their Jio SIM, which can be activated within five minutes thanks to eKYC.
