Massachusetts Institute of Technology scientists have revealed the mystery behind why White/Blue/Gold/Black color  were viral these days. There were speculations of being some mysterious force behind white, black, blue, gold color dress changing colors. Social media and the web was rocking up with different  perceptions which inspired the scientist to look into the issue.

MIT Scientists conducted the survey of 1,400 individuals among whom about  300 individual had never seen the Dress before. During the study scientists have ascended with conclusion that people who had seen the dress in white and gold might have been spending most of their time were exposed to natural daylight on the other hand the people who witnessed the dress in black and blue were mostly exposed to most of their time in artificial light.

Neuroscientist Bevil Conway who had been one of the research team member opined that ‘The Dress’ phenomenon marked the greatest extent of individual differences in color perception ever documented. Mysterious dress was disclosed to people worldwide on web by a 21-year-old singer Caitlin McNeill in the month of February in her blog which appeared as blue and black for few people while a few saw it as in white and gold color. Taylor swift’s intervention hyped the mysterious dress issue to many people across the globe.

People were asked by the Mr.Conway and his team to identify the colours they saw on ‘The Dress’. Based on people’s perceptions they divided people into three camps corresponding to the main groups identified by the social media: blue/black, white/gold and blue/brown. Mr. Conway said “It could have been the case that you had a continuum of perceived colours, but if you plot the colours people picked, you see two main clumps falling into the two categories for what words people used to describe the colours of ‘The Dress’.”

Added to this researchers also found that individuals who were older people and women were more likely to report seeing the mysterious ‘The Dress’ as white and gold while individuals who were younger were discovered claiming that the dress color was black and blue. On a concluding note, researchers opined that these differences in perceptions might have correspond to the type of light that individuals’ brains expect to be in their environment.
