Navaratri Colors 2015: 9 Days Dress Color Code To Follow

In India, there are many festivals and worship particular God/ Goddess on that day. Durga Puja and Navratri festival are celebrated by worshiping Goddess Durga and her different avatars. This year the festival starts from 13th October and is celebrated for nine days. Navratri Puja starts with Shailputri Maa and Goddess of Navadurga. The festival ends on a good note with Siddhidatri Mata’s puja. Dussehra is one of the most important Hindu festivals celebrated in various forms not only in India but also in Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

The Navaratri is also called Sharad Navratri. Navratri literally means the celebration or festival of nine religious nights. Goddess Durga is venerated during these nine days in her three supreme forms. Goddess blessings are bestowed on us in the form of Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati on Navratri. In the first three days of Navratri, the Goddess is venerated as Durga, the following three days, Lakshmi is worshipped and the concluding days are dedicated to Saraswati. Dussehra falls on the 10th day and people celebrate this festival with a  lot of zeal and enthusiasm.

The way of celebrating these days includes people fast for nine days and play Dandiya and Garba Raas. Also here is another important thing that wearing nine bright colours which are to be worn to worship Goddess Durga.

Ghatasthapana / Pratipada (13th October 2015) – Red:

On this day, devotees worship Shailaputri Maa, the first form of Goddess Durga. The idol of Goddess is dressed up with bright red saree. Ghatsthapana is also done.

Dwitiya (14th October 2015) – Royal Blue:

The second day of Navratri is known as Dwitiya. These initial days are dedicated to Durga Maa, the Goddess of power and energy. On the second day, Goddess Durga is worshipped as Brahmacharini. The name of the Goddess means as the one who follows pious strictness. On this day, Goddess is dressed up with Royal Blue saree.

Tritiya (15th October 2015) – Yellow:

The third appearance of the goddess is Chandraghanta, which symbolises peace, serenity, beauty and bravery. The Goddess is dressed in White attire.

Chaturthi (16th October 2015) – Green:

The fourth day of Navratri is known as Chaturthi and The Goddess Durga is worshipped in the form of Kushmanda considered as the creator of the universe. The goddess is draped in Red saree and on this day Bhouma Chaturthi is followed. The colour for the fourth day to be worn is Green

Panchami (17th October 2015) – Grey:

On this day, Goddess Durga is worshipped as Skandamata and is known to demolish the demons. It is traditional to wear grey shaded clothes on the fifth day of Navaratri for Devotees and Goddess attire with Blue.

Shashti (18th October 2015) – Orange:

The next avatar is Katyayani. Idol wears Yellow. People wear Orange and Maha Shashti is observed.

Saptami – (19th October 2015) – White:

On this day, Goddess Durga appears as Kalratri and is considered as the protection from all kinds of troubles and anxiety. On this day, Devotees wear a white dress.

Ashtami (20th October 2015) – Pink:

Maha Gauri eighth avatar of Goddess Durga who is worshipped on this day. The goddess is dressed in Peacock Green colour on Durga Ashtami and devotees wear pink colour.

Navami / Dashmi / Dussehra (21st October 2015) – Sky Blue:

This day is also called Dusshera. The last day of Navaratri is followed by Vijayadashami. The tenth day of the Navaratri ultimately symbolises the good destroying the evil. On this day, the goddess is adorned with sky blue colour.
