Maharashtra’s former Home Minister and NCP Leader RR Patil Passes away

Former Maharashtra home minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader RR Patil on Monday died at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. He is survived by his wife and three children. He is suffering from advance stage of Oral Cancer and was on ventilator support in Lilavati Hospital of Mumbai. Party leaders Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule, Sunil Tatkare, Chhagan Bhujbal visited Patil at the hospital before his demise.

Former Maha Home Minister R R Patil passed away:

R. R. Patil popularly known as “Aaba” was an popular Indian politician from Maharashtra. Patil, who has held the positions of deputy chief minister and home minister in the past, was a 6-term Member of the Legislative Assembly in Maharashtra, having been unbeaten in his native Tasgaon constituency in Sangli district since 1990. He replaced Chhagan Bhujbal as the state’s home minister in late 2003, and became deputy chief minister almost a year later, in 2004.

R.R. Patil, who was undergoing treatment for oral cancer, passed away at a hospital here on Monday. Earlier on Monday, doctors at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital said Patil was critical and put on life support. Last month, the NCP leader was treated for a heart condition for which he had undergone successful angiography at the Bombay Hospital.

NCP leader had been frequenting hospitals since last year. Recently, he had to be rushed to the Bombay Hospital in Marine Lines with symptoms of cardiac arrest. Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari, speaking to News Mobile said, “My deepest condolences go out to the family. May God give the comfort and peace to the family and may the soul rest in peace”.
